Tanjung Malim, August, 31st - The Official Blessing Ceremony of the Most Holy Redeemer Church started around 5.45 Pm with the procession of the clergies towards the main entrance of the church. As the Bishop of Penang, Rt. Rev. Antony Selvanayagam, opened the main door, everybody cheered and clapped. Soon everybody entered the church as the mass began. It was a lovely, live and meaningful evening as the faithful of Tanjung Malim as well as the guests witnessed themselves the blessing ceremony of the church.
The three hours Mass of the Dedication of the Church ran smoothly even though there was not enough seats for almost 3000 faithful who turned up that evening. The tents which were prepared outside the churchyard was packed with the people who came from all over Peninsular Malaysia. The heavy rain which fall during the dawn in the middle of the mass did not reduced the spirit of joy and exhilarating faithful to wait until the end of the mass.
The Bishop of Penang accompanied by the Archbishop of Kuala Lumpur, Most Rev. Tan Sri Murphy Nicholas Xavier Pakiam together with the other priests concelebrated the mass of the dedication. during the solemnity of the blessing of the church, the bishop sprinkled the Holy Water to the faithful, anointed the altar and the walls of the church with Chrism Oil, incensed the tabernacle, the altar, and the church as well as lighted up the altar with candles.
At the end of the the ceremony there were speeches from the president of the church, Mrs Kingham, the parish priest, Rev Charles Chin and also the Bishop of Penang, Rt. Rev. Antony Selvanayagam. The ceremony ended at 8.30 Pm with a fellowship dinner at the outside the church.
